The University of South Carolina Libraries is hosting a program Thursday, February 20, 2014, 5:30 p.m. about the great soprano Sissieretta Jones. Maureen D. Lee, author of Sissieretta Jones, “The Greatest Singer of Her Race,” 1868-1933, will speak about this musical pioneer. Vocalist Rose Davis will sing three of Sissieretta’s selections. She will be accompanied by pianist Al Roberts. The program is free and open to the public.
The event will be held on campus at the Thomas Cooper Library in the Ernest F. Hollings Library Program Room. A reception by the Thomas Cooper Society will follow. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and the author will be happy to sign books. Hope you can attend!
